An American filmmaker, visual effects artist, YouTube creator, and musician Kane Parsons is known online as Kane Pixels. He was born in 2005, in Petaluma, California, and began posting videos on YouTube in October 2017, with his first upload being the absurdist comedy Sandwich. His 2019 short film Late for School went on to win first place in the Middle School Craft Fiction category at the California Student Media Festival.

In 2022, Parsons became an internet sensation with The Backrooms (Found Footage), a chilling nine-minute short he created mostly with Blender while still a teenager. The video helped make the mysterious Backrooms internet legend a massive online phenomenon, and launched an expanding series of films on his Kane Pixels channel. Kane Parsons’ feature directorial debut, Backrooms, was released in 2026 by A24, starring Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve. The project made him A24’s youngest-ever feature director, and turned his homemade digital-horror style into a major theatrical production.
