An exceptionally talented and successful Belarusian-born Norwegian singer, songwriter, violinist, composer, pianist, actor, and author, Alexander Rybak gained fame for winning the Eurovision Song Contest with his self-written hit "Fairytale." He was born in 1986 in Minsk, Belarus, and moved to Norway with his family as a child, later gaining Norwegian citizenship. He grew up in a family of classical musicians and studied at the Barratt Due Institute of Music, becoming a versatile performer with pop, folk and classical influences.

He won the 2009 Eurovision contest with a record breaking 387 points in the contest's voting system and his debut album titled Fairytales went to number one in Norway and Russia and the top 20 in several European countries.
