Laura Marano is an American actress of Italian heritage, born in 1995 in California to a family deeply involved in the performing arts. Her parents managed a small children’s theater, giving Laura and her sister, Vanessa Marano an early opportunity to explore acting. Laura began appearing in commercials and taking on small television roles at the age of four, with early credits including Without a Trace, Joan of Arcadia, Medical Investigation, Ghost Whisperer, Dexter, Huff, Back to You, Gary Unmarried, Heroes, Little Monk, and Children’s Hospital.

In 2011 she joined the cast of the Disney Channel series Austin & Ally, portraying Ally Dawson opposite Ross Lynch. The show was a major success and inspired Laura to pursue a music career.
