Nikola Tesla was one of the most prominent and famous scientists, electrical and mechanical engineers, inventors, and geniuses of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He was born in 1856 in the Austrian Empire to a Serbian family and spent his childhood alongside his parents and three sisters, studying and exploring the world around him. Tesla became interested in physics and electricity during his high school years, inspired by a teacher. He entered the Austrian Polytechnic in Graz but did not complete his studies there. He later continued working and researching at other institutions, focusing on electricity, telephony, and related fields.

In the early 1880s, Tesla got a job at the Continental Edison Company and shortly after moved to the United States. There, he gained significant recognition for his talents as a physicist and inventor, allowing him to open his own laboratories and patent inventions such as the AC induction motor and polyphase AC systems. Tesla is considered the first engineer to explore ideas like wireless communication, wireless transmission of electrical power, high-voltage and high-frequency power distribution, X-ray technology, and early radio technologies.

During the early decades of the 20th century, Tesla continued his research but gradually faced financial difficulties and a lack of support. Nikola Tesla died in 1943 in New York City. After his death, he received worldwide recognition as an outstanding scientist, and his name was given to the unit of magnetic flux density, the tesla.
