An experienced American hip hop artist and television actor, Bryshere Gray is also known by his stage name Yazz. He was born in 1993 in Philadelphia, where he was raised by his single mother alongside his sister. He was a keen sportsman as a child, with a particular interest in American football, and on leaving school he took on numerous jobs in an effort to help support his family. He also started making music and performing as a hip hop artist in public places around town, which got him interest and his first manager.

Gray’s first single titled "Respect" was released in 2013, giving him a little early notice on the local music scene. His big break came in 2015 when he was cast in the FOX television series Empire, playing Hakeem Lyon for over five years.
