How old is Gianluigi Buffon?

Gianluigi Buffon is one of the most prominent soccer players and a key goalkeeper of the Italian National team of the last two decades. Born in 1978 in Tuscany, Italy, he grew up in a family of sportspeople: his parents were athletes and PE teachers, and his uncle was a professional basketball player. Two sisters of Gigi also became sportspeople and play volleyball. Gigi himself has been in love with soccer since his childhood and he started his professional career in the mid-1990s in Parma where he played for 6 years and then continued in Juventus where he became famous and played over 500 matches, won 9 National Championship titles, became the goalkeeper of the year 12 times and the first goalkeeper in the history who has managed to win the title of the Soccer Player of the Year. During the 2000s Buffon was the captain of the Italian National Team and took part in 5 FIFA World Championships. As the captain, he appeared in 80 matches and still holds the national record. In 2018 he continued his career in Paris Saint -Germain and then was back to Juventus for one more season at least. Gianluigi Buffon was repeatedly named among Top 100 soccer players of the decade and all times, and he is considered one of the best goalkeepers in the history of Italian soccer. He became the first goalkeeper in history to win the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year.
