A South Korean singer, songwriter, producer, performer, and entrepreneur, J.Y. Park, also known as Park Jin-young, is recognized for his contributions to K-pop and the global music industry. He was born in 1971 in Seoul but spent much of his later childhood in the US, where his father worked. He went back to South Korea with his mother as a teenager to complete his education, studying music and composition.

Park started his career as part of the pop trio The New Generation and wrote several hit songs including Don’t Leave Me. In 1994 he released his first solo album Blue City, followed by two more successful pop albums. In the early 2000s he set up his own record studio and worked with some big name artists, including Will Smith and others.

J.Y. Park explored television in the 2010s, starring in series, soap operas and reality shows such as K-pop Star. He is married for the second time, is a devoted Christian and one of the most successful and influential musicians in South Korea.
