Kit Harington is a British actor and producer best known for his role as Jon Snow in Game of Thrones. Born Christopher Catesby Harington in 1986 in London, he grew up in a creative household, as his mother is a playwright and screenwriter. Kit showed little interest in acting until the age of 14, when watching a Samuel Beckett play inspired him to join his school theatre group and explore performance more seriously.
He later studied Theatre and Drama at Worcester College and graduated in 2008 from the Central School of Speech and Drama. Soon after, Kit began performing with the National Theatre, gaining critical attention for his role in the stage production War Horse.
In 2011, he was cast as Jon Snow in Game of Thrones, a role that brought him international recognition and lasting popularity.
