Matthew McConaughey is an American actor, producer, writer, and former model who gained international recognition through his versatile and charismatic performances. Born in 1969 in Texas, he grew up alongside his two older brothers and initially considered a career in law before turning his focus to acting. His first notable screen appearance came in local commercials in Austin, which soon led to his breakout role in Dazed and Confused, where he acted alongside Ben Affleck and Milla Jovovich. 

Following early success, McConaughey established himself as a talented dramatic actor with roles in films such as Amistad and the science-fiction drama Contact opposite Jodie Foster. In the 2000s he became widely known for a series of popular romantic comedies including How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and Fool’s Gold with Kate Hudson, Failure to Launch with Jessica Parker, Ghosts of Girlfriend's Past with Jennifer Garner. 

The 2010s marked a new phase in his career, often referred to as the “McConaissance,” when he shifted towards more complex and critically acclaimed roles. He appeared in Killer Joe, Bernie, Mud, The Paperboy with John Cusack, Interstellar with Anne Hathaway, The Sea of Trees with Naomi Watts and others. Beyond acting, Matthew McConaughey is active in philanthropy, supporting education and youth-focused initiatives, and he has taught film at the University of Texas in Austin. He is married to model Camila Alves, and together they have three children.
