Her real name is Rhea Sri Rajagopalan and she was born in 2000, in Connecticut. She grew up in a Tamil Indian family and spent her early years in Texas and New Jersey before moving to New York and LA. Rhea’s mother was a classical Indian dance teacher and she began her training in Bharatanatyam at the age of two. Eventually, she discovered her love for singing and songwriting.

She first gained national attention in 2016 after appearing on the final season of American Idol. Although she did not advance beyond Hollywood Week, the show helped introduce her to a larger audience and inspired her to pursue music professionally. She later studied at New York University’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music and launched her own label, Misschief Records.

Rhea Raj's early success came with songs such as “Outside”, “HUSH”, “Digital Babe” and “Mumbai” as well as her debut album titled Hunter.
