Tinashe Kachingwe is a young R&B singer, musician, songwriter, and actress. She is known as simply Tinashe. Born in 1993 in Kentucky, she grew up in the family of college professors, and her father is the teacher of acting. Thus, he insisted on his daughter attending dancing, ballet, and tap classes. In 2001 the family moved to LA where Tinashe finished a high school and made up her mind to become a musician. In 2007 she was discovered by local scouts and became a member of "The Stunners" all girls band. Together with the band, Tinashe released their famous single "Bubblegum" and the eponymous album. In early 2010, after the band had split up, Tinashe released a few mixtapes followed by her first studio album titled Aquarius, with the hits like "2 On" and "Pretend". It was supported by a large tour. The following two studio albums were received with very positive critics and made Tinashe a successful R&B singer. According to her, the musical style she represents is a mixture of pop, hip hop, and actual R&B.
