Jin, born Kim Seok-jin, is a South Korean singer, songwriter, and global pop icon best known as a member of the world-famous boy band BTS, also known as Bangtan Boys. He was born in 1992 in Gwacheon, South Korea, and grew up alongside his older brother in a supportive family environment. From an early age, Jin showed an interest in the arts, which later led him to study acting and performing arts at Konkuk University in Seoul.

Jin’s path to music began unexpectedly when he was scouted for his visuals while still a university student and invited to audition for what would later become BTS. He became one of the original members of the group and participated in the recording of their debut album 2 Cool 4 Skool, released in 2013. Outside of music, Jin is known for his business ventures, including owning a Japanese restaurant in Seoul, and for his active involvement in charitable initiatives alongside his bandmates.
