Abby Lee Miller is an American dance instructor, businesswoman, and television personality best known as the tough but passionate coach on Dance Moms. She was born in 1965 in Pennsylvania, where her mother, Maryen Lorrain Miller, ran her own dance studio. Growing up in that environment, Abby developed a love for dance and choreography from an early age. By the age of fourteen, she was already coaching her mother’s competition teams, showing remarkable organizational and leadership skills.

In the late 1990s, Abby became a certified dance instructor and founded the Abby Lee Dance Company, training young dancers who later gained recognition on national stages. Her big break came in 2011, when she joined the reality TV series Dance Moms, which followed her students and their parents. The show became a huge success and featured future stars like Maddie Ziegler, Mackenzie Ziegler, Chloe Lukasiak, JoJo Siwa, Cheryl Burke, Brooke Hyland, etc. 

After seven seasons, Abby faced several business and legal challenges with her company, Reign Dance Productions, and served a short prison sentence. In 2018, she was diagnosed with Burkitt lymphoma but has since continued to recover and remain active in the dance world. Abby Lee Miller has never been married and continues to inspire young performers worldwide.
