Bob Marley is the king of reggae music, a musical genius and a cosmic guru, a mystical poet, and a restless soul whose legacy remains and will live for decades. He was born in 1945 in Jamaica and brought up by his mom and grandpa in a poor neighborhood and hardships. Young Bob had to fight for his life, and he has got a nickname Tuff Gong, which later on gave the name to his recording label. In his high school times, he formed a band The Wailers and in the late 1960s they signed up a contract with Island Records, with the help of the people interested in Jamaican music. 

Shortly after, he managed to earn great success and money: in particular, the single the band released in 1975 “I Shot the Sheriff” achieved crazy popularity and sold millions of copies. Marley’s song “No Woman No Cry” was recorded and found its place not just in music but in the whole Jamaican history, as well as became a symbol of peace between the local political movements. By those times, Bob had found his epic distinctive image, with long dreadlocks and special colorful dress code. He recorded his album Survival and toured in Africa, where he got inspiration for writing his other popular songs including “Africa Unite”, “So Much Trouble In The World”, “Zimbabwe” and others. 

While playing football one day, Marley got a leg trauma, and the following medical investigation showed that the musician had cancer. Bob Marley died in Miami in 1981, at the age of just 36. His legacy and his contribution to reggae music and the modern music in general, is impossible to underestimate, and his songs are still popular, decades after his death.
