Labrinth is a British singer, songwriter, and producer who rose to prominence through his work with Simon Cowell Syco Music label. Born Timothy Lee McKenzie in 1989 in London, he grew up in a deeply musical family and was exposed to a wide range of genres, from gospel and soul to electronic and rock music. This diverse background strongly influenced his later sound.

After finishing high school, Timothy began pursuing music seriously. Alongside his siblings, he was part of the group Mac 9, and by the late 2000s he had started recording original material and collaborating with other artists. His breakthrough came with the hit single Pass Out, recorded with British rapper Tinie Tempah.
