Diplo, born Thomas Wesley Pentz Jr. in 1978, is an American DJ and music producer known for shaping modern electronic and pop sounds. He was born in Mississippi and later studied at the University of Florida before beginning his music career in Philadelphia. There, he produced his first mixtapes and experimented with hip-hop, house, and electronic music. While searching for his style, he created a party-focused sound known as Hollertronix, which helped him gain his first recognition.

In the early 2000s, Diplo worked with artists such as M.I.A., and over time his collaborations expanded to include stars like Shakira, Bruno Mars, Snoop Lion, Sia, Iggy Azalea, Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Madonna, Beyonce, Ariana Grande, Usher, and many more.
