Larry King was an iconic American television presenter and radio host whose influence on the modern interview format remains truly significant. His real name is Lawrence Harvey Zeiger and he was born in 1933 in Brooklyn, New York, to a family of Jewish immigrants from pre Soviet Russia, in what is today Belarus. When Larry was nine years old, his father died of a heart attack, leaving his mother to raise him and his elder brother on her own. As a result, Larry began working during his teenage years to help support the family.
