How old is Shakira?

Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll is a prominent singer, songwriter and dancer of Colombian origin who is considered one of the biggest global music sensations of the early 2000s. She began to demonstrate her remarkable musical and performing talent from a very young age and, as a child, she explored a great deal of dance styles, from belly dance to rock and roll. Her regular training in dance helped to improve her rhythm and performing skills, and she'd dedicate a lot of time to developing her singing and songwriting skills as well. 

Her first songs came out in the late 1990s and were mainly for Spanish-speaking audiences. The following decade marked Shakira's international breakthrough, when her English-language albums occupied the top positions in major charts and her stage performances attracted millions of music fans around the world. So far she has won many major music awards, including Grammy and Latin Grammy, MTV awards, and numerous Billboard recognitions. She is widely known as one of the most influential, prolific and best-selling Latin artists of all time. 

Shakira was previously in a long-term relationship with soccer star Gerard Pique, with whom she shares the same birthday and two children. Their marriage came to an end in 2022. In recent years, she has gone on to hit the charts with her new music releases and received some international honors celebrating her lasting career in pop music.
