Ronald Reagan was an American political figure, actor, social personality, and the 40th President of the United States of America. He was born in 1911 in Illinois and grew up in a family of Irish immigrants, alongside his elder brother Neil. After graduating from college, Ronald worked as a radio commentator but had a great passion for acting. In 1937 he moved to California and began to receive his first invitations to join various cinema and TV projects. Reagan appeared in almost 70 movies and about 20 TV films, as well as hosted some TV programs like General Electric Theater. In the 1950s he decided to try himself in politics, becoming a Democrat first and then changing his political views to the Republican ones. His main ideology was an anti-Communist one. In 1967 Reagan was elected the Governor of California and served 2 terms in office until the winter of 1975.

In 1980 after a massive promotional campaign Ronald Reagan won the elections and became the 40th Presidents of the US. The economic changes introduced by him received the name Reaganomics, which proved to be successful and improved the country's economy to a great extent. Foreign policies of Reagan's included ending the Cold War on one hand and involvement in constant tensions in the Middle East on the other. In 1985 Ronald Reagan was re-elected and continued his reforms till the end of the decade. At the end of his term he enjoyed the national support of about 68 per cent of the population. After leaving politics in the early 1990s, Ronald Reagan was diagnosed with progressive Alzheimer's disease. He stopped appearing in public in the late 1990s and passed away in summer 2004, at the age of 93.
